A.J. Elumn, M.D.

Psychiatrist: General • Child and Adolescent • Addiction

After completing medical school at Texas A&M, I pursued diverse training to strengthen my understanding of mental health across all age groups and conditions. I trained in general psychiatry in Texas, followed by a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in Utah, and another fellowship in addiction psychiatry in Florida. This extensive training allows me to effectively support patients whether I encounter them in a community mental health clinic, the VA, or a private practice.

I believe that understanding mental health goes beyond a diagnosis—it involves appreciating each person's unique lived experiences. To support my patients, I use an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework. This approach helps me understand not only how a patient is struggling, but also how they can overcome their challenges in a functional way. While medications can be an essential part of treatment, I believe our actions define us more than the medications we take.

Access to high-quality psychiatric care, especially specialized care, has long been a challenge. To address this, I have been working to expand access by collaborating with and supervising colleagues in the mental health field. I'm thrilled to be partnering with WinMind Health, where I hope to reach and help more patients than I could ever reach on my own.
